Phillies 11, Yankees 6: Yanks Fall as Phillies Rookie Maikel Franco Continues Onslaught

Maikel Franco rounded first base, sprinted to second and threw his hands together powerfully. He had just roped a two-run double down the third-base line, and he was revved up.

Franco, a 22-year-old rookie who was 4 for 5 with two home runs on Monday night, continued his tear through Yankee Stadium on Tuesday. He was 2 for 3 with five R.B.I., and his ninth-inning double helped power the Phillies to an 11-6 win.

“I don’t know as an individual how you could have a much better day,” Yankees Manager Joe Girardi said of Franco’s performance on Monday, but his words could just as well have applied to Tuesday.
