DUBLIN, Ohio — David Lingmerth reluctantly passed on the European Tour stop in his native Sweden this year, as he had the previous two. While his compatriot Alex Noren won by four strokes Sunday at PGA Sweden National, Lingmerth was more than 4,000 miles away, locking horns with the 2013 United States Open champion, Justin Rose, in the Memorial Tournament at Muirfield Village Golf Club.
Lingmerth was trying to secure his first PGA Tour victory in his 68th start. Standing in his way was Rose, a seven-time tour winner who won this tournament in 2010. At the end of regulation, Rose and Lingmerth were tied at 15-under-par 273.
