The Green Bay Packers saw all they needed to see from Knile Davis. Two weeks after trading for the running back, the Packers released him Monday.
The Packers sent a 2018 seventh-round draft pick to Kansas City to acquire Davis on Oct. 18.
Davis was a third-round pick of the Chiefs in 2013 and was a solid kick returner for Kansas City. He didn't get many carries as a running back in Kansas City's crowded backfield. The Packers jumped on him after injuries to Eddie Lacy and James Starks.
Lacy is out for the year with an ankle injury, but the Packers hope to get Starks back in a couple weeks following knee surgery.
