Orlando deputy killed during manhunt was former UCF football player

A manhunt for the alleged shooter of an Orlando police officer Monday morning led to the death of a sheriff's deputy.

Norman Lewis, a former Central Florida football player and Orange County Deputy First Class Norman Lewis, was killed Monday morning in a traffic collision while searching for Markeith Loyd.

Loyd, a career criminal accused in the shooting death of his pregnant girlfriend last month, allegedly shot and killed Orlando police Master Sgt. Debra Clayton at a Wal-Mart around 7:15 a.m. ET.

In the ensuing manhunt, Lewis died in the fatal wreck that occurred about 9:45 a.
