Baltimore (AFP) - Baltimore Orioles relief pitcher Brian Matusz will appeal an eight-game ban imposed Monday by Major League Baseball for having a foreign substance on his arm during a loss to Miami.

The 28-year-old US left-hander was ejected in the 12th inning of a 1-0 loss to the Marlins on Saturday.

Matusz became the second major league pitcher in a week to receive a ban for having a foreign substance on his arm that would help him better grip a ball.
