Orioles 11, Yankees 3: Michael Pineda’s Time Off Leads to a Forgettable Start

BALTIMORE — Michael Pineda had 10 days off between starts, but he looked rusty instead of rested Friday as the Orioles rocked him in an 11-3 drubbing of the Yankees at Camden Yards.

The decision to give Pineda 10 days between starts was a reasonable one, given his history of shoulder injuries and his workload this year, when he looked to be on pace to throw more than 200 innings. But he struggled through his shortest outing of the season, allowing nine hits and six runs (five earned) in four and a third innings, the only time he has not made it through five innings in 11 starts.
