Oregon dispatches defending champion Duke for Elite Eight berth

Oregon knocked off defending champion Duke in an all-around dominant 79-68 regional semifinals win Thursday in Anaheim, Calif., to advance to its first Elite Eight since 2007.

The Ducks, the West Region's top seed, faced little pushback from the fourth-seeded Blue Devils, as Duke failed to recover from a mostly lethargic first half in which leading scorer Grayson Allen managed just three points and Marshall Plumlee spent a good chunk on the bench after early foul trouble.

All told, Duke was lucky to trail only 36-31 after Oregon went on a 10-4 run to close the half.
