His timeline was questionable, like his judgment last weekend in Toronto, when he confronted hecklers and narrowly missed being part of a street fight outside a nightclub. But whenever C. C. Sabathia was asked to take another day to rest before his next start, his response was firm.
“He asked me would I mind,” Sabathia said. “I never do.”
Sabathia said Joe Girardi, the Yankees’ manager, decided on Saturday to push back all the starters by a day. Girardi said he decided to do so after Sunday’s game. He also said he did not learn of Sabathia’s near scuffle until Monday, when video of the incident surfaced on TMZ.
