WASHINGTON — Everything the Washington Nationals envisioned was on display at their ballpark on Tuesday night. All of the regular position players took their spots on the field. The starter pitched like an ace. A crowd of more than 34,000 left happy on a warm summer night.
“This looks like the team that we expected all along,” said Mike Rizzo, the Nationals’ general manager, and who could argue? Ryan Zimmerman hit a grand slam. Stephen Strasburg retired 15 in a row. Bryce Harper doubled and scored two runs.
If only the snapshot told the tale.
