On Baseball: At 50, Major League Draft Has Sharpened Its Focus

Brendan Rodgers had been to New York once before this month, to play at Citi Field in a summer showcase for top high school players. He has also played at Wrigley Field in Chicago and Petco Park in San Diego.

“It was an honor to play at those events, and I had a blast,” Rodgers said. “How they treated us and everything, it was awesome.”

Major League Baseball celebrated Rodgers on Monday, hosting a luncheon in Midtown for him and the three other high school prospects who agreed to take part in the hoopla for the annual draft.
