Olympics legend Shannon Miller talks 'Final Five,' cancer battle and yes, her scrunchy

RIO DE JANIERO — Shannon Miller first burst onto the U.S. sports scene when she was just 15, winning five medals in the 1992 Olympics. She then was part of the famous, “Magnificent Seven,” team in the 1996 Olympics, where she won two gold medals, for balance beam and team exercises.

Miller has been closely watching the accomplishments of this year’s female gymnasts, who romped over the rest of the competition to win the team event. She has been supporting Hershey’s #HelloFromHome campaign, which seeks to deliver messages from back in the U.S. to the athletes competing here in Rio.
