As Jordan Spieth prepares for the British Open with two majors under his belt, excitement is increasing over a 21-year-old going for a Grand Slam. And it is not just excitable fans who have high hopes for Spieth. Normally coolheaded bookmakers and gamblers give him a real chance as well.
Spieth is the clear favorite for the British Open on betting sites, with his odds as low as 5-1. No other player is really close. Dustin Johnson, whose three-putt on the 18th hole cost him a chance to win the United States Open, is the distant second favorite, at 10- or 12-1 in most places, and Rickie Fowler is about 16-1.
