NWSL Players Pause Games After Six Minutes of Play: 'This is Not Business As Usual'

Gotham and Spirit players stopped playing six minutes into their Wednesday night matchup and linked arms at midfield as the National Women's Soccer League Players Association released a statement saying, in part, "#NoMoreSilence."

"Tonight, we reclaim our place on the field, because we will not let our joy be taken from us," the statement read. "But this is not business as usual."

NWSLPA announced each team will stop play at the sixth minute on Wednesday and players will stand in solidarity at midfield "for one minute in honor of the 6 years it took for Mana, Sinead, and all those who fought for too long to be heard.
