For the third time in four games, Notre Dame baseball fell to Boston College, this one being the toughest one to swallow.
The Irish are fighting for a spot in the NCAA Tournament, but this 5-4 loss throws a wrench into the situation. Had Notre Dame prevailed, they would have gotten another solid victory and pushed the committee to include them in the field.
Now, they’ll have to wait and see. Starting pitcher Rory Fox gave it his all, going six innings while allowing 4 runs with nine strikeouts. Reliever Ricky Reeth pitched two clean innings, but Tobey McDonough couldn’t keep the Eagles off the scoreboard in the top of the tenth.
