Northern Illinois could replace Minnesota in Holiday Bowl if boycott happens, report says

The Holiday Bowl committee may have an easy solution if Minnesota players go through with their threat to boycott their bowl game against Washington State: simply invite another team.

That team, according to ESPN's Brett McMurphy, would be 5-7 Northern Illinois, which "likely would play" in the game.

The Huskies, despite their record, won four of their last five games in the regular season. Moreover, six of their seven losses came to bowl-eligible opponents. They also boast a win over bowl-eligible Eastern Michigan.
