CLEVELAND — Tim Hughes kept a promise to his 9-year-old son, Burk. After Tim attended Game 1 of the World Series with his wife, Jodie, he told a despondent Burk they would go together for Game 7 if it came to that.
So when it did, Hughes pulled Burk out of school Wednesday and made the drive from nearby Wadsworth to Progressive Field to see the Indians and Cubs. Burk even brought a sign for the occasion:
“I don’t always skip school, but when I do I beat the Cubs.”
