NFL Rumors: Eagles Sign QB Josh McCown to Practice Squad in Unprecedented Move

The Eagles signed veteran quarterback Josh McCown to their practice squad Sunday, but they don't plan on bringing him to Philadelphia anytime soon, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter.

In the historic move, the 41-year-old McCown becomes the oldest practice squad player in NFL history. With NFL teams allowed to have 16 players on their practice squads amid COVID-19 concerns, Philadelphia signed McCown in case one or more of their quarterbacks test positive for the virus this season. The deal provides the veteran with a pretty sweet setup this fall, too. Per Schefter, McCown will continue living at his Texas home and attend meetings virtually while collecting $12,000 per week.
