NFL Rumors: Carson Wentz, Chiefs Agree to 1-Year Contract as Patrick Mahomes' Backup

After spending most of the 2023 season with the Los Angeles Rams, veteran quarterback Carson Wentz has found a new home.

According to NFL Insider Jordan Schultz, Wentz has reached an agreement with one-year contract with the Kansas City Chiefs.

Wentz made $1.16 million in his lone year in Los Angeles after signing with the team in November. As the backup to starting quarterback Matthew Stafford, Wentz saw limited action over the second half of the season, but he proved he is still a capable signal-caller.

Wentz filled in for Stafford in the regular-season finale against the San Francisco 49ers and helped lead the Rams to a 21-20 win that helped them earn the sixth seed in the NFC Playoffs.
