SAN FRANCISCO — For years, the idea of the NFL returning to Los Angeles was not much more than that — an idea.
But as league owners departed the Ritz Carlton after two days of meetings here, it finally felt like all those hypotheticals about a team — or teams — relocating to L.A. are nearing fruition. It has become, as Indianapolis Colts owner Jim Irsay told reporters, "not a matter of if."
The questions now, Irsay confirmed, are who and "how many?"
Several important matters were handled at the meetings, including a revision of the extra point rules and New England Patriots owner Robert Kraft's announcement that he won't appeal his team's punishments for Deflategate.
