As of Friday morning, the Saints had made nothing official about signing veteran wide receiver Anquan Boldin. But the speculation had grown all week, and it seemed as if it was a matter of time before the 35-year-old Boldin surrendered his spot on the NFL offseason’s best-available-free-agents list.
A handful of good players have exited that list lately: defensive end Jason Jones signed with the Dolphins, and safety Walter Thurmond and wide receiver Percy Harvin retired. But, as usual, another handful joined, thanks to late releases by their teams.

That’s how the latest list has been shuffled, some two weeks before training camps open.
