Youth football, the foundation for all higher levels, is not a safer environment for kids when it comes to head trauma even though the NFL claims otherwise, according to The New York Times.
At issue are claims that data show concussions are down 30 percent since an NFL-backed program started.

Injuries in general are also reported to be down 76 percent thanks to safety procedures that teach proper tackling technique, among other things, as part of "Heads Up Football," an initiative backed by the league and USA Football.
