New York Giants clear salary cap space by restructuring Brian Burns' contract

The New York Giants entered the week with roughly $1.6 million in salary cap space, the lowest in the NFL and short of what they need to sign the remainder of their 2025 NFL draft class.

General manager Joe Schoen sought to address that on Thursday, at least in part, by restructuring the contract of veteran linebacker Brian Burns, converting $10-plus million of his base salary into a signing bonus.

With the added cap space created by the Burns restructure, the Giants signed rookie first-round pick Abdul Carter to a four-year, fully guaranteed $45.
