There will be a new professional golf tournament format introduced in 2017, and I'm guessing you have never seen anything like it. The European Tour announced on Wednesday it will have a 54-hole stroke play event that culminates in the top 24 players after those 54 holes playing six-hole match play events on the final day to determine a winner.
The catch? If those six-hole match play events are tied after six holes, the winner will be determined by a closest-to-the-pin competition.
