New closers, resurgent vets worth picking up on fantasy baseball waiver wires

Last week's waiver wire recommendations featured a couple new closers (Carlos Estevez, Brandon Kintzler), a couple top hitting prospects (Tim Anderson, Peter O'Brien) and a couple top pitching prospects (Jameson Taillon, Blake Snell). This week's top pickups list features ... more of the same.

Well, not exactly the same. We're lighter on the hitting prospects, but we have yet another good young pitcher and another new closer. The way in which this week's picks differ is that we're also loaded with several veteran hitters that inspire zero excitement from fantasy baseball owners. Fun, right?

Even though the likes of Melvin Upton and Jayson Werth aren't going to cause a stampede to the waiver wire, you can still ride their hot streaks and get yourself some much-needed Roto points or a win in a head-to-head league.
