NBA, union have too much to lose to opt out of CBA

In the first 24 hours free agency, NBA teams agreed to contracts with players worth approximately $1.5 billion.

Some of the big deals were $110 million to Kevin Love, $70 million to Khris Middleton, $60 million to Brook Lopez, $50 million to Thad Young, $60 million of Omer Asik, $58 million to Paul Millsap, $60 million to DeMarre Carroll, $90 million to Jimmy Butler, $90 million to Kawhi Leonard, $70 million to Brandon Knight and $145 million extension for Anthony Davis and a $120 million extension for Damian Lillard.

All told through Aug. 4, NBA teams have committed more than $3 billion to nearly 180 players for the next five seasons.
