NBA Advocacy In The Age Of President Donald Trump

The past four years have undoubtedly seen a change in how we approach major social issues, wherein activists and fellow members of the community have been able to shine a brighter light on injustices occurring across the America. Through marches, writings, and social media, they have made people more aware of what’s going on, and have helped pish legislators into making policy changes that will better protect minority groups.

It has been no different in the NBA.

Since the killing of Trayvon Martin in 2012, players across the league used their platforms to affect change; speaking out about the unjust killings of Black men and women at the hands of police officers, the plight of the wrongfully or unjustly imprisoned, and convening forums to begin to address gun violence and how to better relations between law enforcement and its communities.
