Nationals turn to veteran Baker for manager job

The Washington Nationals opted for experience, hiring Dusty Baker as manager on Tuesday.

The 66-year-old Baker takes over for Matt Williams, who was fired after a disappointing season that saw the Nats fail to make the postseason, despite beginning the year with World Series hopes.

Baker went 509-463 in his six seasons with Cincinnati and finished third on the Reds' list for wins by a manager behind Anderson (863) and Bill McKechnie (744).

His 1,671 career wins rank 16th on the MLB list. He is one of only two managers, along with Bobby Cox, to win three NL Manager of the Year awards.
