Nationals reinstate Michael Soroka to start series finale vs. Guardians

WASHINGTON (AP) — The Washington Nationals reinstated right-hander Michael Soroka from the injured list to start Wednesday's series finale against the Cleveland Guardians.

Soroka went on the 15-day IL after he strained the biceps in his pitching arm during his Nationals debut, a 5-2 loss to the Toronto Blue Jays on March 31. He allowed four runs in five innings in that start.

An All-Star with Atlanta during his first full season in 2019, the 27-year-old Soroka has been limited by injuries since. He tore his right Achilles tendon on a routine fielding play in 2020, then injured the same tendon while walking into Atlanta’s ballpark the following year.
