NASCAR’s Betty Jane France remembered as philanthropist, mother, friend

NASCAR and its founding family lost one its most beloved members and most influential leaders with the passing of Betty Jane France, the widow of Bill France Jr. and the mother of NASCAR Chairman Brian France and ISC CEO Lesa France Kennedy.

“Last night, the NASCAR family lost a mother, a grandmother, a friend and the light that guided the sport’s charitable arm,” Brian France said in a statement Tuesday morning. “My mother taught us incredible values, that of love, patience, compassion and joy.”

“We are saddened by the passing of my mother and inspiration,” France Kennedy said in a statement.
