New York (AFP) - Major League Baseball's commissioner Rob Manfred will have at his discretion the authority to dish out tough penalties to players in sexual assault and domestic violence cases, the league and the players union announced.

The new policy will set the standards for investigation, discipline and treatment for domestic violence, sexual assault and child abuse cases.
