Mike Trout expressed concern about playing baseball amid the COVID-19 pandemic with his wife expecting their first child.
The three-time MVP ultimately decided to join his Los Angeles Angels teammates, but he’s taking a break with a baby on the way. The Angels placed Trout on the paternity list on Thursday with his wife Jessica due to give birth to a boy on Monday.
Brian Goodwin will take Trout’s place in center field while he’s gone.
Trout initially wasn’t sure about joining his team in June because of the pandemic.
