The Southeastern Conference has been regarded as the nation's premier college football conference. If Saturday was any indication, the rest of the country has caught up.
Top-ranked Alabama did its job with a dominating 52-6 win over No. 20 USC. But the rest of the conference left a lot to be desired.
The SEC is living off a distorted reputation of being a deep conference because of nine claimed national championships since 2003. But those titles have been won by only four of the league's 14 teams — Alabama (four), LSU, (two), Florida (two) and Auburn (one).
