Miami postpones football workouts, reportedly after multiple positive COVID-19 tests among players

The University of Miami has postponed its football workouts after multiple players reportedly tested positive for COVID-19.

The Miami Herald reported Thursday that “at least three” football players tested positive, causing the school to cancel Thursday’s workouts. Miami confirmed that Thursday’s workouts were called off, but did not confirm if any of its players tested positive, citing university policy.

“Out of an abundance of caution and in coordination with our return-to-campus policy, we elected to postpone today’s workout,” a university spokesman told multiple outlets.

The Hurricanes began mandatory football workouts on Monday after initially bringing players back to campus for voluntary workouts in mid-June.
