MIAMI — When things are going well for the Mets — as they were during their three-game sweep of the Marlins, punctuated by Wednesday’s 8-6 win at Marlins Park — their players race one another to home plate.
Lucas Duda had just launched a 1-1 changeup to deep center field in the third inning, with Yoenis Cespedes on first base and Daniel Murphy on second. Murphy cautiously watched the ball’s trajectory, wondering if it would fall. Cespedes, apparently more confident that no Marlins player would reach it before it hit the ground, started his charge around the bases.
