Noah Syndergaard struck out a career-high 13, and the Mets’ offense stirred to life — albeit briefly — to earn the team’s fourth win in the past five games, beating the Arizona Diamondbacks, 4-2, at Citi Field on Friday.
With the Mets still reeling from the news that the rookie left-hander Steven Matz was headed to the disabled list, Syndergaard, another touted rookie, took the opportunity to remind fans that he was still around and pitching better with each appearance.
It was the third straight start in which Syndergaard surrendered only one earned run.
