The huddle broke, his teammates patted his back, and Jeurys Familia took a few steps off the mound to gather his thoughts during the ninth inning.
He had allowed the first three Phillies to reach base, and the go-ahead run stood at the plate. Familia fired a heavy sinker for a strike to Jeff Francoeur, then another. When he threw a third, Francoeur grounded into a double play. When the next batter, Andres Blanco, hit a line drive inches into foul territory, Familia shook it off and struck Blanco out.
This was the only drama in the Mets’ 3-1 win over the Philadelphia Phillies on Monday at Citi Field, their 13th win in 14 games this season against the Phillies.
