San Francisco (AFP) - World number one Rory McIlroy needed just one extra hole to see off Paul Casey when the pair resumed their quarter-final in the $9.25 million WGC-Championship Match Play in San Francisco on Sunday.
The Irishman and the Englishman were all square after 21 holes the previous evening when they were forced by fading light to suspend their duel overnight.
McIlroy missed a six foot birdie putt to snatch victory on the third sudden death hole then, but he made sure of victory on the resumption by once again birdieing the par-five opening hole.
