Brian Vickers might be making his last start as Tony Stewart's replacement driver. If he is, Vickers appears ready to save his best for last.
After being fastest in Friday's practice, Vickers qualified third for Sunday's STP 500. He was the best Stewart-Haas Racing driver, outstripping former Martinsville winners Kevin Harvick, who will start 19th, and Kurt Busch, 23rd.

On Saturday, Vickers toured the 0.526-mile track smartly again, turning in the fourth-fastest time in the morning practice.
