Martin Truex Jr.'s crew chief suspended, fined $50K for another roof-flap violation

After a second roof-flap violation in as many events, Martin Truex Jr.'s crew chief Cole Pearn has been suspended one race and fined $50,000.

NASCAR announced Wednesday the No. 78 team has been assessed with the loss of 15 championship owner and 15 championship driver points for a roof-flap violation found during pre-race inspection at Atlanta Motor Speedway.

Pearn was already on probation through Dec. 31 for a roof violation discovered Feb. 14 before Daytona 500 qualifying. Furniture Row Racing will appeal Wednesday's suspension and NASCAR has deferred suspension of Pearn pending a ruling, thus he will be allowed to crew chief this weekend at Las Vegas.
