Marlins manager Mike Redmond was rumored to be on the hot seat in mid-April, but team owner Jeffrey Loria squashed speculation that Redmond would be fired on April 26th after the team won five games in a row.
Via the Palm Beach Post:
“He’s the manager. Period. All teams go through bad moments. Ours came early.”
Less than a month later, Redmond was fired just a few minutes after what was almost an embarrassing loss to the Braves. Atlanta pitcher Shelby Miller lost his no-hitter with two outs in the bottom of the ninth inning, and the Marlins dropped to 16-22 on the year.
