Robinson Cano’s sixth-inning home run rocketed toward the second level of the right-field stands at Yankee Stadium, leaving the bat with the kind of speed where it’s fate is certain upon contact.
Just as quickly as the ball exited the field of play, it was unceremoniously returned, angrily thrown back by a fan that had seen Cano, now the enemy in a navy blue Mariners jersey, collect his third hit of the day on five pitches.
The ire towards the former Yankee grew with each at-bat. Cano also singled in the third and blasted a first-inning two-run homer off Michael Pineda, making Saturday the 14th multi-homer game of his career — and first as a Mariner — as the Yankees fell, 4-3.
