Manny Pacquiao was the target of a kidnapping plot by the terrorist group Abu Sayyaf, Philippines President Benigno Aquino III said Wednesday.
Abu Sayyaf, an Islamic extremist group based in the southern part of the Philippines, also had planned to assassinate Aquino.

"They allegedly even hatched plots to kidnap Manny Pacquiao or one of his children, as well as my sister Kris or one of her children, with the plan to use them in bargaining for the release of their cohorts," Aquino said, via The Associated Press.
