Luther Burden 'didn't really talk' to Bears before the 2025 NFL draft

When the Chicago Bears drafted wide receiver Luther Burden III out of Missouri with the 39th overall pick, it came as a surprise -- partially because Burden wasn't expected to be available and also because the Bears didn't have much of a glaring need at the wide receiver position.

In the early stages of the draft, Chicago made it obvious that they were going to bring in more reinforcements and playmakers for quarterback Caleb Williams under new head coach Ben Johnson, which started with the selection of tight end Colston Loveland in the first round.
