A former LSU basketball star is returning to college basketball in a front office role. Shaquille O'Neal will join Sacramento State as the men's basketball general manager, according to a report from ESPN.
Per Shams Charania, O'Neal's position does not come with a salary and O'Neal will volunteer his time. O'Neal's son, Shaqir O'Neal, plays for Sacramento State.
O'Neal's move continues a trend of past and current NBA stars working in college basketball general manager roles. Last month, the Atlanta Hawks' Trae Young took a similar position at Oklahoma.
O'Neal has kept busy since retiring from the NBA in 2011.
