Live Updates: Phillies and Astros to Battle in World Series Game 1

HOUSTON — A pounding rainstorm that moved through the area Friday afternoon made for an open-and-shut case regarding the Minute Maid Park roof for Game 1 of the World Series: It will remain shut, and nobody was looking to argue.

Heavy, widespread rain and strong winds moved into the area on Friday afternoon. As the Astros and the Phillies took batting practice before Game 1, the winds and rain were strong enough that a few drips round their way through the seams of the roof.

“I think this one’s a pretty easy call,” Astros General Manager James Click said a couple of hours before first pitch Friday.
