LeBron James first made his name and became a national sensation at St. Vincent-St. Mary High School in his native Akron, Ohio. By his senior year, he was a well-known figure in the basketball world, as he was featured on the cover of "Sports Illustrated" and was one of the most highly anticipated draft prospects ever.
He averaged 29.2 points and 9.3 rebounds a game as a high school senior. In fact, there was so much intrigue surrounding him that one of his games against Oak Hill Academy, which featured Carmelo Anthony, was broadcast nationally on ESPN2.
In a recent episode of his "Mind the Game" podcast, James said he could've put up 50 points a game late in his high school career, but he claimed that he didn't because he wanted to play a more team-oriented game (h/t Lakers Daily).
