Toronto Raptors guard Kyle Lowry left Sunday’s Game 4 against the Brooklyn Nets with what the team described as a turned left ankle and will not return.
Lowry’s foot got tangled with Nets guard Chris Chiozza, and he limped around the court. After the first sequence following a timeout, Lowry signalled that he needed to leave the game, intentionally fouled, then headed to the locker room.
His status was to be determined initially, but the Raptors subsequently ruled him out with a corresponding update.
At this juncture, the move feels precautionary for a Raptors team that is up 3-0 in the series against an overmatched Nets team, but if Lowry is out for a prolonged period, it would be a devastating loss for the defending champions.
