Kristaps Porzingis Raises Eyebrows, Including Carmelo Anthony’s

GREENBURGH, N.Y. — When the Knicks used the fourth pick to select Kristaps Porzingis on Thursday night in the N.B.A. draft, robust jeers accompanied his journey to the stage at Barclays Center. His arrival was not greeted with a great deal of enthusiasm — not by fans at the arena, and not by one interested spectator who was watching from afar.

Carmelo Anthony, 31, who has four years and nearly $102 million remaining on his contract, would apparently prefer not to wait for a project to pan out. He was said to be confused and disappointed by the pick, according to a person who was briefed on conversations that Anthony had after the draft.
