Knicks fire coach Fisher amid 5-game losing skid

The New York Knicks have fired coach Derek Fisher after a 23-31 start to his second season, sources tell ESPN.

The Knicks went 17-65 in his first season.

Kurt Rambis will serve as interim coach.

Fisher was hired by team president Phil Jackson to turn around the struggling New York franchise. They have a history when Jackson coached the Lakers, and Fisher was a point guard on the team that won multiple championships.

The Knicks haven't won a title since the 1972-73 season.
