She has followed Kentucky basketball passionately since she was 7 years old, but nearly 25 years later, this will be Danielle’s first season as a UK fan. She has a few more letters on her name and an entirely different identity than when she first joined Big Blue Nation.
“It doesn’t change the perspective at all,” she told me. “It only really changes the clothing I wear.”
This is true only in regards to basketball. Everything else in her life is different. Danielle is a transgender woman. Transitioning from Daniel to Danielle within the past six months has not been as simple as putting on a sleeker pair of shoes.
